Privacy Policy

Effective date: [INSERT EFFECTIVE DATE]

This Privacy Policy explains how Doomwell, LLC, operating the AKEM website and brand (“AKEM,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), collects, uses, discloses, retains, and protects personal information when you visit akembio.com, create an account, place an order, contact support, receive communications, or otherwise interact with us.

This Policy does not apply to a third-party website, application, payment service, carrier, or platform governed by its own privacy policy.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide

We may collect:

  • name, email address, telephone number, billing address, shipping address, and organization information
  • account credentials and account preferences
  • order details, products viewed or selected, transaction amount, payment status, discount or membership status, shipment details, and order history; this information may reveal or permit inferences about research or health-related interests even though AKEM does not request diagnoses, symptoms, treatment plans, or intended human use
  • purchaser-eligibility, research-intent, compliance, exemption, or fraud-review information
  • communications, support requests, photos submitted with a claim, survey responses, and other information you choose to provide
  • marketing and text-message preferences and consent records.

Payment information

Payment-card and bank information is processed through hosted or tokenized fields supplied by third-party payment providers. AKEM may receive limited transaction details such as payment status, card brand, expiration details, billing match, transaction identifier, and fraud-screening result, but does not receive or store complete card numbers, card security codes, or bank credentials on its own systems.

If you choose Cash App, Venmo, or another external payment service, that provider collects and processes information under its own terms and privacy policy.

Information collected automatically

When you use the Site, we and our service providers may collect IP address, device and browser information, operating system, identifiers, referring and exit pages, pages viewed, timestamps, approximate location derived from IP address, cart activity, interactions with messages, and diagnostic, security, and fraud-prevention data.

Cookies and similar technologies

We may use necessary cookies for account, cart, checkout, security, and Site operation. Subject to our configuration and your choices, we may also use preference, analytics, or advertising technologies. Where required, nonessential technologies will not be activated until consent is obtained.

2. How We Use Information

We may use personal information to:

  • operate, secure, maintain, and improve the Site
  • create and administer accounts and membership benefits
  • process payment, fulfill orders, manage inventory, provide tracking, and handle returns or claims
  • verify eligibility, research intent, identity, address, payment, tax status, or compliance
  • detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, misuse, diversion, security incidents, or unlawful activity
  • communicate about orders, accounts, products, policies, support, and service interruptions
  • send marketing communications when permitted and manage opt-out requests
  • analyze Site performance and understand how visitors use the Site
  • comply with tax, accounting, recordkeeping, legal, regulatory, and law-enforcement obligations
  • establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.

3. How We Disclose Information

We may disclose personal information to:

  • hosting, ecommerce, content-delivery, security, backup, and technical-service providers
  • payment processors, fraud-screening providers, banks, Cash App, Venmo, and other payment services selected by the customer
  • fulfillment providers, shipping carriers, address-validation providers, and shipment-protection or claims administrators
  • email, SMS, customer-support, analytics, consent-management, and marketing providers used by AKEM
  • accountants, auditors, insurers, attorneys, consultants, and professional advisers
  • government agencies, courts, regulators, law enforcement, or other parties when disclosure is required or permitted by law or reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, and security
  • a buyer, lender, investor, successor, or adviser involved in a financing, merger, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of assets.

We do not sell personal information for money. If AKEM later uses advertising or analytics practices that applicable law treats as a “sale,” “sharing,” or targeted advertising, we will provide any required notice and opt-out mechanism before or when that practice begins.

We do not sell product-browsing history, order history, purchaser-eligibility information, or inferred research or health-related interests. We do not use those categories for cross-site targeted advertising or unrelated profiling.

4. Email and Text Messages

We may send transactional communications about an order, payment, account, shipment, delivery, security event, or policy. If you opt in to marketing email or text messages, we may send promotional communications consistent with your consent.

You may unsubscribe from marketing email using the link in the message. You may stop marketing text messages by replying STOP. Reply HELP for assistance. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Consent to marketing text messages is not a condition of purchase. Stopping marketing messages does not stop essential nonmarketing communications where permitted by law.

We maintain consent and opt-out records. Mobile opt-in information and consent will not be sold or shared with unaffiliated third parties for their own marketing, except as necessary for providers that deliver the messaging service on our behalf or as required by law.

5. Address Autocomplete and Location Services

Checkout may use Google Maps Platform or another address service to suggest and format addresses. That function does not, by itself, verify deliverability. Information typed into an enabled address field may be processed by that provider under its own privacy terms. You may always enter an address manually.

6. Retention

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including fulfillment, customer service, fraud prevention, security, tax and accounting obligations, dispute resolution, and legal compliance. Retention varies by record type and may be extended when required by law, litigation hold, investigation, or a legitimate business need. When information is no longer required, we take reasonable steps to delete, deidentify, or securely dispose of it.

7. Security

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information. No storage or transmission method is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for using a strong, unique password and protecting access to your account and devices.

If you believe your account or personal information has been compromised, contact us promptly at [INSERT PRIVACY REQUEST EMAIL].

8. Your Choices

You may:

  • update certain account information through your account or by contacting us
  • unsubscribe from marketing email or text messages
  • adjust browser cookie settings, understanding that blocking necessary cookies may prevent checkout or account features from working

use an available cookie-preference control; and

request privacy rights described below where applicable.

There is no uniform industry standard for browser “Do Not Track” signals. The Site is configured to recognize a qualifying Global Privacy Control signal as an opt-out request for sale, sharing, or targeted advertising for the browser or device that sends it, to the extent those activities and rights apply. AKEM does not use order history or inferred research or health-related interests for cross-site targeted advertising.

9. State Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live and whether a particular law applies to AKEM, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, or portability of personal information; to obtain information about categories of collection and disclosure; to opt out of sale, sharing, targeted advertising, or certain profiling; to limit certain uses of sensitive information; and to appeal a denied request.

To submit a request, use [INSERT SECURE PRIVACY REQUEST FORM URL] or email [INSERT PRIVACY REQUEST EMAIL] with the subject “Privacy Request.” Describe the right you wish to exercise and provide information reasonably necessary to verify your identity and locate relevant records. Do not email a government identification document unless we specifically request it through a secure method. We may deny or limit a request where permitted by law, including when information must be retained for tax, fraud, transaction, security, legal, or other exempt purposes.

You may use an authorized agent where applicable. We may require proof of the agent’s authority and verification of your identity. We will not unlawfully discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.

If we deny a request and applicable law provides an appeal right, submit an appeal through [INSERT SECURE PRIVACY REQUEST FORM URL] or [INSERT PRIVACY REQUEST EMAIL] with the subject “Privacy Appeal.” Our response will explain any further complaint method required by applicable law.

10. Children

The Site is intended only for adults age 21 or older who can lawfully contract and qualify to purchase research materials. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18, and we do not permit anyone under 21 to create a purchasing account. If you believe a minor has provided personal information, contact [INSERT PRIVACY REQUEST EMAIL].

11. International Visitors

AKEM is operated in the United States. If you access the Site from another country, information may be processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction. AKEM does not offer international shipping at launch unless expressly stated at checkout.
